Subscribe on YouTubeQuick answer: Metrobi is a delivery platform where drivers with an SUV, minivan, van, or box truck apply for routes from local businesses. The business chooses the driver, you get rated 1 to 5 after each delivery, and pay arrives weekly by direct deposit. It is only available in certain U.S. cities and may have a driver waitlist.
What Is Metrobi and How Does It Work?
Metrobi isn't a food-ordering app. It's a delivery marketplace for local businesses like bakeries, caterers, and florists that need dependable deliveries. Businesses post a single delivery or a full route, and drivers go after the jobs they want. Depending on the job, you might drop off to another business or to a customer's door. You can also see Metrobi's profile, requirements, and cities in our gig platform directory.
Where Is Metrobi Available?
Metrobi's driver network is only available in certain cities, so check your area before you apply. According to Metrobi's current locations list, it is active in Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Newark, and Washington, DC.
Metrobi marks another dozen cities as launching, including Columbus, Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Nashville, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, and Tampa, and lists many more as coming soon. Launching and coming-soon cities don't have regular driver jobs yet. Metrobi also sells delivery management software across the U.S., but that doesn't mean driver jobs are available everywhere. The list changes as Metrobi expands, so confirm at metrobi.com.
How to Get Jobs on Metrobi: You Apply and Get Chosen
This surprises many new drivers. On Metrobi you don't just tap "accept" and go. You apply for a job, and the business picks who gets it. Here's the route from first look to steady work:
- Browse offersPay, stops, mileage, and estimated time are shown before you apply.
- ApplyThe job moves to your Applied tab. You can remove yourself if you change your mind.
- Win the auctionOther drivers apply too. On one route I applied to, three of us were in the auction.
- Deliver and get ratedThe business rates you from 1 to 5 once the delivery is complete.
- Go preferredSay yes to preferred status and you can schedule that business's jobs days ahead.
How Ratings Work
After each delivery is complete, the business rates you on a scale of 1 to 5. Those ratings follow you from job to job. Metrobi says its highest-rated drivers get access to the best opportunities. In practice, a strong rating helps you win the auction against other applicants.
A few things that help your rating:
- Arrive on time for pickup
- Take proof-of-delivery photos at every stop
- Communicate if something goes wrong
- Handle the products with care
Becoming a Preferred Driver
After you complete a delivery, you get the option to become a preferred driver for that business. Preferred status makes you eligible to schedule that business's jobs days in advance, instead of only competing for last-minute routes. Many listings say only preferred drivers can apply for deliveries more than 4 days out, so this is how you get steadier, more predictable work.
If you like a business and its routes, say yes. A few preferred relationships can turn Metrobi from a hunt for jobs into a reliable weekly schedule.
Metrobi Driver Requirements
- Be at least 21
- Hold a valid driver's license
- Carry valid auto insurance (you upload proof in the app)
- Have a clean SUV, minivan, cargo van, reefer van, or box truck (rental vehicles are not allowed)
- Carry a smartphone with internet access
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Pass a standard background check
Sedans and pickup trucks aren't currently accepted, so check your vehicle before you apply. You can apply on Metrobi's driver sign-up page.
Metrobi also limits how many drivers it activates in each market, so you may be placed on a waitlist before you can see jobs.
How Much Does Metrobi Pay?
Businesses set the pay, and you see it before you apply. It combines a flat fee based on vehicle type, a per-stop payment, and mileage. Metrobi says it doesn't take a cut from drivers, because it charges businesses a separate fee instead.
Routes vary a lot. Some are short morning runs, and others are much bigger. I've seen one listed at around $200 for 15 stops over 84 miles and about four hours. Keep in mind that's gross pay before your fuel, wear on your vehicle, and taxes, and the time is Metrobi's estimate.
Metrobi advertises up to about $1,200 a week for van drivers, but that's a best-case number. Your income depends on how many jobs are posted near you and how often you're chosen.
When Does Metrobi Pay Drivers?
Metrobi's driver FAQ says businesses pay for jobs completed Saturday through Friday on the following Monday, with funds sent to your bank the same day. Payouts run through Stripe, so you connect your bank account to get paid. It adds that some banks take up to 48 hours, and that if a business pays late, your payment is delayed too.
In my experience, it takes about 7 days to get paid. That's fine if you plan for it, but it isn't the instant cash-out you get on some other apps.
Driver tip: Keep your insurance and other documents current. Metrobi showed me a banner telling me to update my insurance information to avoid payout delays. Expired or missing documents can hold up your money, so handle those prompts right away.

Metrobi Driver FAQ
What is Metrobi?
Metrobi is a delivery marketplace where independent drivers deliver for local businesses such as bakeries, caterers, florists, and grocers. How does Metrobi pay drivers?
Businesses set the pay, which combines a flat fee based on vehicle type, a per-stop payment, and mileage. Payment goes to your connected bank account through Stripe. Metrobi's driver FAQ says jobs completed Saturday through Friday are paid the following Monday. In my experience it takes about 7 days, and there is no instant payout option.
How do you get jobs on Metrobi?
You apply for a job in the app, and the business chooses which driver gets it. Some jobs draw several applicants. After a completed delivery you can become a preferred driver for that business, which lets you apply for its jobs more than 4 days in advance.
What vehicle do you need to drive for Metrobi?
Metrobi accepts SUVs, minivans, cargo vans, refrigerated (reefer) vans, and box trucks. Sedans, pickup trucks, and rental vehicles are not eligible, and the vehicle must be clean and in good working condition.
What are Metrobi's driver requirements?
You must be at least 21, hold a valid driver's license, carry valid auto insurance, pass a background check, have a smartphone with internet access, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs, in addition to the vehicle requirement.
Where is Metrobi available?
Metrobi's driver network is active in 14 U.S. cities: Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Newark, and Washington, DC. About a dozen more, including Phoenix, Nashville, and San Francisco, are marked launching, and many others are listed as coming soon. Check Metrobi's locations list for the current status, since it changes as the company expands.
How much can you make driving for Metrobi?
Metrobi advertises up to about $1,200 a week for van drivers, but that is a best-case figure. Routes I have seen range from around $20 to $25 for a short three-stop run to around $200 for a 15-stop, 84-mile route. Your earnings depend on how many jobs are posted near you and how often you are chosen.
Is there a waitlist to drive for Metrobi?
Possibly. Metrobi says it limits the number of drivers in each market to balance supply and demand, so some areas have a waiting list. Once a spot opens, Metrobi's support team contacts you, and after you submit the required documents, activation can take up to 48 hours. After activation you will usually see last-minute or one-time jobs first, until you build relationships with businesses.
Gear That Makes Metrobi Routes Easier
Bigger routes mean more stops, more packages, and more time on the road. These are the kinds of gear that make that easier:
- Insulated catering delivery bags to keep food hot or cold on bigger orders
- Folding hand truck for heavy or stacked boxes
- Collapsible wagon for catering trays and oversized loads
